E-Tran Validation Errors Impacting 7(a) Originations

AUTHOR: The SPARK Team

We are currently investigating unexpected validation errors returned by E-Tran that may impact certain 7(a) origination submissions.

Over the past week, E-Tran has begun enforcing responses to certain 1919-related questions in scenarios where those questions were not previously required.

We are now seeing validation errors for:

  • Individual co-borrowers

  • Individual principals

  • Certain corporate guarantor scenarios

This behavior contradicts prior SBA and vendor guidance, including documentation provided when E-Tran was updated to support the most recent version of the 1919.

At this time, we do not know whether these validation errors impact all origination submissions or only certain borrower and guarantor structures, nor whether these E-Tran changes are intentional or unintended. We have escalated this issue to SBA CAFS Support and are seeking clarification on the scope and impact of these changes.

Until we receive confirmation from the SBA, some origination attempts may fail, and the impact may vary depending on borrower and guarantor structure.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available from CAFS Support.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this.
